1/ If you are thinking of renting a property for your holiday the following should be considered, does the property really exist,
2/ does the property meets with the correct licences and regulations for that country
In the case of Portugal it should have a "Alojamento Local".
3/ The property should have the following features for your safety
4/ it should show a clear floor plan showing exits in case of an Emergency with information how to contact the Emergency service Fire: Ambulance :Police
5/ smoke detectors in all rooms as well as a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the kitchen area
6/ The boiler or water heater should be yearly serviced and have the correct ventilation
7/ the property should have sufficient locks for security and you must have the keys to all lockable doors
8/ the property should be clean on arrival and offer cleaning/maintained to hygiene standards and offer clean laundry at least once every seven days.
9/The property must have one bathroom for every 3 bedrooms this includes any sleeping in a lounge or other form on fold out bed that count as sleeping arrangements
10/ the swimming pool must have the following, it must be able to be closed at any given time by the way of a fenced off area with a lockable gate this must be at least 1.5 metres in height, there should be information on the pools depth for both ends Shallow/Deep. it should also display No Diving signs.
